Wk8_Medieval Times 2

Who doesn't like to eat? During the middle ages food had a different twist to it. The food that royalty ate was different from the one that the common people ate. However, some things were the same like the meats.
Royalty tended to eat the best of foods. They were lucky at the time because spices were being introduced to them. How lucky for them, although we can easily obtain them; it was much more difficult in their times to get any kind of spices.
I never knew that they ate so many different kinds of meats. They ate the following types of meat: pork, lamb, veil, venison, poultry, game, bear, hedgehog, hare, and rabbit. most of these meats are still eaten but some more than others. Although, not everybody could afford to eat meat everyday, it was mostly royalty who ate these different types of meat. The poor suffered everyday and ate what they could.
Another interesting thing I discovered was that you had to have some higher authority in order to hunt the better meat. Otherwise, if a peasant was found hunting a deer or something of the sort, that would be the end for him or her. It is amazing to see how some types of meat were valued more than others and how a regular person could be killed for hunting some type of precious animal (meat). It sounds hard to believe read it.http://www.middle-ages.org.uk/middle-ages-food-meat.htm
